Welcome again to another episode, another podcast of advanced commercial systems and home of the roof nerds here at our local station here at our local office. We’re having podcast every week. We have been doing podcasts for, what has it been two years now. It’s been a long time doing a podcast every week. We, we’ve been in business for quite some time. We’ve been doing commercial roofing and been doing roofing systems, uh, every bit of 10 years or so. And so, you know, I can’t say we’ve been doing this for 40 years. I mean I’m just in my forties so that’d be impossible. I know guys that literally say they’d been doing roofing for 30 years who are barely 30 years old. It is an absolute joke at some of the weird marketing I see people do. How can name them for you? But I wouldn’t do that because I’m not going to put anyone down, but it’s really weird.
The marketing they do, you know, they say no accumulated working experience in Tulsa or here in commercial roofing broken Arrow of 30 years. In 40 years. I might come on, give me a break. Just to be honest, I’ve been doing roofing specifically, this is my 11th year. I’m starting and you know, if they say they say when you’ve been doing something for 10 years professionally you begin to be an expert. And so I can say I’ve been doing this for 11 years. This is the 2019 is a bit started my 11th year. And I can say here in commercial roofing, broken arrow. I personally believe that I am an expert in commercial roofing. You know, um, we are endorsed with the construction industry board and the state of Oklahoma and being one of the few commercially endorsed roofers. We are one of the few that actually is legally allowed to work on commercial roofs, whether it’s repairs, whether it’s putting coatings, whether it is maintenance programs, whether it’s just doing estimates or just reroofing or full roof replacement.
It doesn’t matter to work on commercial roofing and the state of Oklahoma, you are managed by the, what’s called the construction industry board. They are directly under the, uh, they had been under governor Mary Fallon, but now I believe they are under governor. Uh, Kevin’s did we have a new governor that was sworn in just today. So with that governor being sworn in today, I believe actually solving that happened today. And so with the new governor that we have today, the construction industry industry board is directly under those guys under that governor. And they specifically, uh, set all the rules and regulations up for HVHC contractors, plumbing contractors, um, electrical electrician, electrical contractors and roofing contractors. So to be a Roofer in the state of Oklahoma, number one residential or commercial, you have to be licensed in the state of Oklahoma. To be a residential Roofer, you have to have one half of a million of general liability insurance.
And to be a commercial roofer and the state of Oklahoma, you have to have a minimum of 1 million general liability insurance. And you have to have workers compensation in your business for your business, for you, yourself, and your employees. So here in the state of Oklahoma, uh, we are very proud, proud to say that we are experts in commercial roofing and we are certified and endorsed by the state of Oklahoma as commercial roofing contractors. And so we love commercial roofing. It’s our passion. It’s what we do. We wake up in the morning thinking about putting on roofs. We wake up in the morning, I’m thinking about taking offers. We think about repairs, we think about stopping water. Let’s talk about stopping water. Do you know God is the smartest of all? Do you know Satan is the dumbest of all? And do you know that water is in the top 10 smartest of all water has the capability because of his best friend gravity to find holes that you could never imagine.
Water has the capability because of his first cousin gravity to just go in cracks and crevices in roofs and walls and in windows that will completely amaze you. I have seen the smallest Pinho allow a gallon of water an hour it through it. It is amazing what water can do. Water can freeze, water can evaporate, water can. It’s really an amazing, and specifically how it’s our enemy and commercial roofing and we converse. A roofers are 70 to 75% made out of water. So it’s really an interesting thing when you were thinking about it that way. Our number one enemy were made out of and that number one enemy. I mean we love water. I mean gimme a glove, tall glass of water and a glass of sweet tea. Put me on the front porch and Louisiana and I sit there and sing songs with my guitar all day.
I’ll tell you, water is a master and an A. Ae has a, it has an Mba and finding cracks and crevices. It has a master’s degree and learning how to get into a building, it doesn’t matter where your building is. It can be in commercial roofing broken Arrow, it can be in Tulsa, sand springs, Glenpool jinx a Waso, doesn’t matter where you are, Claire. More Katusa. It doesn’t matter where you are or where you’re building is. Water has the capability of being your number one enemy. You know, just today when we were at a building, we have a new potential client we were talking with and we were there for almost an hour with them. Uh, they had been showing us things had been taking place in their building. They were really, you know, they really love their building. They had a new building built and it’s a really a great building and they were showing us some things and we got up on the roof and did some evaluations and, but I’ll tell you, they begin to share with us, um, that water begin to drip into the ceiling in a room that holds all of their computers and all of their, you know, they’re, they’re, they’re an engineering company, so all of their mainframe computers and all of the servers and all the stuff that they have backing up all their computers and everything.
And this is really big deal. I mean, if you have, I mean, that room could easily be worth $100,000. The equipment just sitting in that room very easily could be worth that much. And you’re having water come inside the room from the ceiling. You don’t know it, it’s two o’clock in the morning on a Sunday night or Sunday morning. It starts leaking. You show up eight o’clock, you know, on Monday morning, um, you know, a half a day later and you’ve only to find out that all your computers just got wet and the room is flooded in water with an inch of water because you know there’s a door jamb that keeps the water inside. So here in commercial roofing, broken Arrow, where that building and that client specifically is, we begin to share with him our emergency services department. So basically you give us a call, 24, seven, we come out, we take care of the problem, we answered the phone and then we step in and do everything we can to help you stop the leak immediately.
Now let me tell you something, there are charges to that just for us to show up in the middle of the night. We charge you more than the normal because you’re getting something that’s more than normal. You know, if you go to a barber and get your hair cut on Christmas Day, he should charge you probably double if you go somewhere and get services performed on a holiday. You know the, the, the personnel there and normally getting time and a half. My brother works for an airline down in baton rouge. Now we’re located here in commercial roofing, broken arrow. But my brother works for an airline in baton rouge. Every single holiday he either gets time and a half or double time. So that business is willing to pay him because of the special timing. So if you, so I’m just, I’m a always really honest guy with you. If you call us an emergency, you might have a hundred thousand dollar room.
So it’s nothing for us to charge you one and a half time. The normal pricing because we’re getting up, getting out of bed, driving out at night, climbing up on a wet roof. It might be raining, there might be lightning, there are some characteristics of the, of the event that would normally tend to have us to charge and more than the normal price. So with that, we do not specifically just do free evaluations at night just because the roof was leaking. If you call us out for a roof that’s leaking, we’re going to come out and fix the roof. We’re not going to come out and then get down and share with you what’s going on. And then you say, well, I need to get four other estimates. That’s not going to work. You call us out for an emergency repair. We’re going to bring product with us and we’re going to do the repair.
We do this all the time in Tulsa, a Waso commercial roofing, broken arrow. It doesn’t matter where we are. We bring product with us. We always have product in the truck with us and our van, our roof, our roof nerd van. So as we come out, we’re going to take care of the roofs. But here’s the good news. There are, it’s gonna go away. We’re going to keep working on it. And sometimes it might take two or three hours in the rain, but we’re going to make the leap go away. We’re going to do what we can to serve you. The best that we can. There are extending certain circumstances that causes us to not be able to do the things that I just said. Sometimes leaks just don’t go away. I had a leak in an acupuncture building, um, just a few months ago and that specifically did not go away and I repaired and I took care of it and I’ve did things and the leak wasn’t going away.
I finally investigated more and more and more and I found out in commercial roofing broken Arrow, I specifically found out that there’s a hot water heater in the ceiling right up above the ceiling grid, this leaking and there’s about six or eight water pipes. They could very easily have small drips calls in the problems that were taking place. So I’m just letting you know we do the best that we can. We have great communication and validation where we’re interacting with you, keeping you fully informed of every step of the way. I asked you to be patient with us the same way we’ve specifically, we’ll be patient with you and your roof and your roofing problems. But you know, when it comes to Thomas for emergencies, emergency services, we love to help you. And here in commercial roofing, broken Arrow, I think we’re the best at what we do. So give us a call if you need anything, you can go check us out on our website at okay. Roof nerds.com at the top of that website, just to the right, you can see the phone number of (918) 973-1010. That is our one, uh, our, our one one one call phone number to get us moving on your behalf. Hey, we appreciate you for joining in another podcast today here in commercial roofing, broken air.
